Our Prediction:

Miami Dolphins will win

Jacksonville Jaguars – Miami Dolphins Match Prediction | 22-08-2019

The Dolphins biggest weakness is their interior defensive line, and their 145.2 rushing yards per game allowed is second worst in the league after the Oakland Raiders. Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard, who had some very nasty things to say about the Jaguars this week, is trending towards playing this week despite a knee injury and should comfortably blanket Donte Moncrief. Defensively, the Dolphins are fairly underrated against the pass and should give this inept Jaguars air attack fits. Cam Wake and Robert Quinn have had stellar seasons applying pressure from the edges and should have their way with Ereck Flowers and Josh Wells. Honestly, Cody Kessler may die this week.

That snapped the Jaguars six-game losing streak in the series. Watt and linebacker Whitney Mercilus didnt play in that second game, and they all should be back on the field for the opener, which makes the Texans contenders for the division title again. The Jaguars swept the Texans last season by a combined 74-14, which included a 45-7 romp in December in Jacksonville. Quarterback Deshaun Watson, defensive end J.J.

Their punters have accumulated 3,235 yards on 72 punts, averaging 44.9 yards per punt. They are 9th in the National Football League in all-purpose yards with 5,509. The Jacksonville Jaguars have tried 23 field goals this season and made 21, which is 12th in the league. That ranks them 26th in the NFL in punting average. Their longest punt return this season is 74 yards. Their kickers have a FG percentage of 91.3%. They've totaled 271 punt return yards and are averaging 10 yards per return, which is 8th in the league. The Jaguars average 19.7 yards per kick return and have a long of 47 yards this season. Jacksonville Jaguars kickers have made 95% of their extra points, going 20 for 21 this season. Jacksonville is 14th in the NFL in punt returns with 27. They have returned 25 kicks for 492 yards on special teams, placing them 29th in kick return yardage.

Itll be interesting to see how the loss of offensive coordinator Frank Reich affects quarterback Carson Wentz, but its hard to see Philly's offense slowing down much. The Jaguars have won three in a row at Wembley Stadium, but the defending Super Bowl champs will be the toughest opponent theyve faced overseas since they began playing there annually in 2013.

Miami Dolphins vs Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Tip, Prediction & Preview

Left tackle and former first round pick Laremy Tunsil has had his best season to date, but he is fighting through a knee injury that Yannick Ngakoue should work to take advantage of. Hopefully, Taven Bryan can continue to build off last weeks performance to get his first sack (unless the NFL does a stat correction for the sack he should have had last week). Offensively, the Dolphins have faced injury adversity along the offensive line (sound familiar?) and will be starting Ted Larsen, Travis Swanson, and Jesse Davis on the interior.

Wide Receiver Saeed Blacknall achieved 25 yards along with one reception, while Nick DeLuca experienced a TFL. Charles Harris contributed 1.5 sacks and Sam Eguavoen managed to get eight tackles. Miami made a few mistakes at their defensive line and they are looking forward to bounce back from their last game. At one moment the Dolphins had the game in their hands, but the Buccaneers moved into goal range with the final 28 seconds on the clock. Playing against Jacksonville Jaguars will be a great opportuning for the Dolphins to strike back. Josh Rosen might have made a change, but the Dolphins seem to have other plans. Out of the last six preseason games, Miami Dolphins managed to win just two.

Rash of tight end injuries 'just part of it' for Jaguars

The Miami Dolphins have attempted 18 field goals this season and made 17, which is 23rd in the National Football League. Miami kickers have made 97% of their extra points, going 32 for 33 this year. The Dolphins average 25.5 yards per kick return and have a long of 102 yards this year. Their longest punt return so far this year is 71 yards. They have returned 30 kicks for 764 yards on special teams, ranking 7th in kick return yardage. Their kickers have a field goal percentage of 94.4%. Their punters have totaled 3,431 yards on 77 punts, averaging 44.6 yards per punt. That places them 19th in the NFL in punting average. They've accumulated 272 punt return yards and average 11.3 yards per return, which is 20th in the NFL. They are 22nd in the league in all-purpose yards with 5,626. Miami is ranked 9th in the league in punt returns with 24.

Ryan Tannehill has been steady for the most part managing games, but if you ask most Dolphins fans, they cant wait for a new quarterback in 2019. If Tannehill can play well these next two games and get his team into the playoffs, he may earn another year as the incumbent starter heading into next season. Future Hall of Famer Frank Gore was placed on injured reserve this week, so expect a heavy dose of rookie Kalen Ballage, who notched his first career 100-yard rushing game last week, to compliment Kenyan Drake. Who could have predicted that Kalen Ballage would have a 100-yard rushing game before Leonard Fournette would? The Dolphins arent known as a heavy play action team, but dont be surprised if they dial that up this week to move the pocket for Tannehill.

This game could be the one that eventually decides the AFC South. Lewis should be a very good complement to Derrick Henry and will be a problem for defenses as a receiver. The Titans finished second last season by only a game, and the signings of cornerback Malcolm Butler and running back Dion Lewis are two of the divisions better additions.
